About The Strawberry Patch Preschool
The Strawberry Patch is an in-home Preschool in the Irvington neighborhood in Portland, Oregon for children 3-5 years of age. The school is run and organized by Jeanine VanSise, a local Oregon teacher who was inspired to start a preschool where play and learning can come together in a warm, loving setting. Play is emphasized at The Strawberry Patch because young children learn best through exploration and experimentation. Through thoughtfully planned activities students will be exposed to: wonderful children's literature, inquiry science, history, letters and numbers, math activities, fine motor and gross motor play, dress up, theater, music, tons of arts and crafts, and much more! Children are provided with stimulating indoor activities, and outdoor play time every day. Each day is new and exciting for kids!
Miss Jeanine (owner and head teacher) is a certified Kindergarten-5th Grade teacher, who holds both a Bachelor and Masters degree in Early Childhood/Elementary education. Jeanine is considered a "highly qualified" teacher by the state of Oregon, and is highly trained in child development, classroom management, and instruction and curriculum development with over five years of teaching experience in Eugene schools in preschool through middle school classrooms and six years experience running the Eugene location of The Strawberry Patch Preschool. Miss Jeanine knows what kids are expected to do once they move on from The Strawberry Patch. Because of her education and experience she is aware of the skills kids should be developing in the preschool setting to help them succeed emotionally, socially, and academically in elementary school.
At The Strawberry Patch Preschool the needs of every individual child are embraced. Every child comes to school from unique backgrounds and has their own needs, strengths, challenges, and interests. Jeanine strives to help students develop physically, emotionally, socially, and individually as well as academically. At The Strawberry Patch students' interests and needs are key in activity planning, literature choices, and free-play time!
